They are the names given to storms during the 2010 hurricane season - which begins June 1 and ends November 30.
History has shown that a lack of hurricane awareness and preparation are common among all major hurricane disasters. By knowing vulnerability and what actions to take, people can reduce the effects of a hurricane disaster.
Since most North Texans are out of the path of the hurricane, we may not see an actual hurricane. However, we are a safe haven for evacuees (as you may remember from Katrina).
While we appreciate all volunteers who help during and after a disaster, the best advice to prepare before the disaster strikes.
Take a disaster training course and become part of our DAT team. You'll get to volunteer with a great group of people (if I must say myself).
